But in a world that makes people to lose sensibilities every day, how can a girl who tries to bond with the rest of the World as she also expects support from her mother realize this naive desire? The film sheds light on the milestones in Eda Tavacı's life, starting from her childhood until she graduated from university; it draws the portrait of an artist who transforms the ballet stage into a huge world, captures a completely different sense of rhythm by imagining the music she cannot hear, and compensates for the absence of sounds with the energy hidden in her body.

LIKE A TURNING WHEEL

Project type: Sort Documentary Duration: 30’ Language: Italian Subtitles: Greek & English Director: Marco Rossano Producer: Marco Rossano Country: Italy

Luigi is the captain of the Italian Paralympic water polo team. Due to a car accident, he lost the use of his legs and has been using a wheelchair for over twenty years. The film depicts his daily life and preparation for the II National Paralympic Water Polo Championship. Team training sessions and matches are interspersed with interviews and personal moments of the protagonist. With his strength and zest for life, Luigi always finds the energy to keep going and not let daily challenges get him down, normalizing disability in the eyes of others and living without pity.
DIRECTOR’S NOTE The documentary narrates Luigi's daily life and the preparation for the second National Paralympic Water Polo Championship. Filming lasted two years to capture and immortalize the most real impressions and moments of Luigi's experience. Luigi's training sessions and matches with his teammates are interspersed with interviews and personal moments. The film shows the protagonist's strength and zest for life as he consistently finds the energy to persevere and refuses to be discouraged by the daily challenges he faces. The experience gained over these years has increasingly convinced me of the current need to address social issues, especially by interacting with the younger generations, not only to lift the veil that covers a reality that, when seen up close, appears different from how it may seem. Indeed, the lack of knowledge about the world of disabilities often leads to misinterpreting the issue, resulting in conclusions that are not the most accurate in addressing the problem. Only knowledge, preferably from the firsthand experience of disabled individuals, helps build better social, psychological, and concrete inclusion.
The film touches various topics related to the theme of disability, including accessibility in spaces and barriers that, even before being architectural, are mental. In fact, the protagonist of the documentary strongly asserts his disabled condition, and the film seeks to provide a different perspective on the theme of disability, normalizing it in the eyes of others and portraying it without pity.
The documentary's objective is educational and cultural in nature and begins with the common reflection on three simple  questions: what is the perception of disability? What does it mean to be disabled? How do people with disabilities live?
Inspiration for the comparison and search for answers is provided by the documentary "Like a Turning Wheel," which, in a particularly touching and realistic manner, tells the personal and sporting story of Luigi Paola. Through his strength of will, Luigi managed to "get back up" and realize himself, becoming a point of reference for family and friends in the sporting, personal, and professional spheres. One of Luigi's main characteristics is his ability to treat his disability with disarming calmness, alternating ironic moments with others of true poetry, without ever falling into sterile sentimentality. It is precisely this way of portraying disability that represents a peculiarity of the footage, aiding reflection, as it is never aggressive or forced.

Project type: Animated short film
Duration: 06’ 27’’
Language: Albanian
Subtitles: Greek
Director: Gentian Minga
Producer: “EU for Social Inclusion” (EU Delegation to Albania)
Country: Albania

“Arti the equal” is an animated short film for children (and parents alike) on diversity and inclusion. We teach our children through animated films anything from animals, to nature, cars, cities, countries, dinosaurs, etc., but in Albania didn’t yet exist an animated short to inform them of the community they live in. Through this project we aim to teach children about diversity: persons with disabilities, Down syndrome kids, children from Roma and Egyptian communities in Albania, children with autism, etc. Children attend school and they always will have a classmate from these vulnerable and marginalized groups, therefore talking about inclusion and diversity is the best way to cultivate empathy and tolerance in school and prevent bullying and discrimination at an early stage of the life. But it is also a book on diversity as it talks about children studying in international schools, children with different physical features, children coming from different cities and backgrounds.

Country: Greece

On the occasion of two very important world days, March 6th, International Day Against School Bullying and March 21st, International Day Against Racism, the students of the Sixth grade of Paradisiou Rhodes Primary School, created the film “FEEL”. It is a short film, in which daily incidents are presented, which take place inside schools of all grades, but also outside them. Diversity, racism, school bullying are parameters of the film, in which those who are treated as “weak”, according to social stereotypes, are presented here as the “strong” ones who help to solve difficult situations! “Feel” is the title, as through the flow of the film the viewer “feels” both the perpetrators and the victims, but the most essential thing is how he “feels” during the healing and the coming of reconciliation. The filming was completed at the children’s school within four hours with the full cooperation of the teachers, students and paralympians. The children were prepared by their teachers, and in a short time they learned the expressions presented in the film in sign language. The girl in the first story of the film was given a wheelchair for the needs of her role, by the Paralympic athletes who responded with complete respect on set, after following the instructions of the videographer. Our athletes had the role of actors as those who watch the new generation handle situations of racism and school bullying in a way that we all hope to see in schools one day.

Project type: Video Clip
Duration: 04’ 09’’
Language: -
Subtitles: No Subtitles
Director: Nicolò Roberto Roccatello
Producer: Simone Dipietro & Pantalone Srl
Country: Italy

This video clip is a dance of seduction between two young visually impaired individuals, an encounter that goes beyond sight. Their mutual discovery and fear of rejection transform into an extraordinary metaphor, taking us into a parallel world, a vibrant mental intimacy. In the chaotic streets of the city, they cross paths for the first time in a noisy crowd. A shy, accidental contact leads them to a playful getting-to-know phase, among carousels and urban views, where smiles multiply, and intimacy grows. The story then moves to one of their homes, a place that reveals their daily struggle and beauty with blindness, as a visual and erotic tension steadily builds. Water boils, the kettle whistles, temperatures rise, and under the table, feet search for each other, and hands brush against one another. And then, the climax: as the song reaches its peak, the two draw closer for a kiss, a moment suspended in time, slowed down to capture every emotion. In the midst of this reality, we dive into the mental dimension of the characters. A dark limbo, enveloped in smoke and lit by powerful lights, becomes the stage for a passionate dance. From a shy beginning, solitary, and dark movements of discovery, mistrust, and engagement emerge in a sensual duet, until, at the climax of tension (the kiss in reality), the visual energy peaks with masterful choreography, framing and lighting effects.
At the epilogue, we are brought back to the beginning of the story, in a narrative loop. The two approach for a possible clash, but flashbacks and flash-forwards cross the editing, leaving the viewer suspended between what could have been and the dream of an encounter that never happened.
