5 December 2023 | Topic: Arts and Disability I

On December 5th, the 5th International Reflection of Disability in Art – RoDi Festival is screening a series of films that negotiate disability through the standpoint of art. More specifically, the day's topic is named “Disability and Art part I”. Talking about art, we do not mean only the 7th and the 12 films included in today’s program, but also their content. These films' creators/artists/protagonists are narrating their stories and personal experiences. They are telling us about their professions and the ways they entertain themselves. They are also explaining to us the means and mechanisms they use to make their lives better and be self-determined. All these are possible through art -any kind or form- sculpting, painting, play creation, audiovisual synthesis, photography, movie-making, dance, theater/performance, animation, music, crafts, etc. The program of the day consists of the fowling films: “Alternative Way of Being Human”, “Self-portrait with Marcos Santos”, “The Rocking Horses”, “Dummy”, “Captured Moments”, “My Cameras”, “Futurism”, “Ahmad”, “DOWN”, “The Imprint”, “Sensitive Spectrum. Art in the limits of perception” and “Winter Garden”. Part II of the “Disability and Art” topic will be screened on Saturday, December 9th.
