FILM SCREENING "FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS"
Family and the relationships developed within it reflect both our social “being” and “becoming” and thus considered as the cornerstone of our society. Movies from Greece, France, Portugal and Ukraine give us powerful images around the familyinstitution. Elpida Helioudaki's film entitled "His shoelashes" focuses on the fact that anything that is easy for others, is a difficult journey for someone else, himself and his family.
Τhe movie "Too beautiful" by AichaGhembaza immerses us without detours in the heart of a powerful story between a ten-year-old girl with autism and her mother. What happens when parents'desire to protect their children doesn’t go hand in hand with young adults' need for independence? In Franc Planas's film "A son like others" a young adult with schizophrenia claims his independence.But, in order to achieve independence, the family goes through various stages, as can be seen in Olga Kalchugina's film from Ukraine entitled "Au". The film is not just for people with similar experiences, but for the whole society. It is an invitation to every viewer to understand, accept and broaden this perspective.
