Opening Ceremony of the 4th International Festival "The Reflection of Disability in Art" of the University of Macedonia

 

The opening ceremony of the 4th International Festival "The Reflection of Disability in Art" took place with great success. The Vice Rector for Research and Lifelong Learning of the University of Macedonia, Professor Dimitrios Chandrakis, addressed a greeting. In his speech, Mr. Chandrakis stressed the importance of the Festival in supporting and promoting the social inclusion of disabled and thanked the organizing committee and the volunteers who contributed to the event (Read the trancript of the speech).

Afterwards, the Head of the Festival, Associate Professor of the Department of Educational and Social Policy, Mrs. Lefkothea Kartasidou, welcomed the spectators and underlined the care that has been taken in all the events of the Festival, so that there is interpretation in Greek Sign Language as well as  Greek and English subtitles in all movies. In addition, Mrs. Kartasidoufocused on the concept of solidarity, pointing out the need we all have to feel as a community and claim the right to creation and culture. After thanking those who, anonymously or by name, stood as helpers and companions in this effort, she announced with joy and special honor the opening of the 4th International Festival (Read the trancript of the speech).

The artistic program began with the song "Denial", music by M. Theodorakis and lyrics by G. Seferis from the Rodi Music Orchestra.

The program continued with the screening of the documentary "I is another" by Brazilian director Meneghetti and the universally accessible film "How to train an antihero" directed by Giannis Bletas.

 

The evening ended with the song "Beautiful city" by M. Theodorakis from the Rodi Music Orchestra.
